Policy 2167
Critically Ill StudentsStudents who are facing significant health challenges such as those battling cancer or recovering from a major accident who face an anticipated loss of access to their regular educational program of more than one academic quarter due to treatment shall require additional educational support. This educational support may be initiated by either the parent or the school principal.
The support required shall be formulated through the creation of a 504 plan (District Policy 2162) and may require the creation of an IEP (District Policy 2161) depending on the severity of the illness.
Depending on the location of the recovery, staff shall follow District Policy 2165 on Home or Hospital Instruction in support of the critically ill student.
