Total Scholarship Money awarded to La Center Graduates in 2016: $3,587,395!!
Out of the 116 Students who walked at Graduation, 67 were offered at least 1 scholarship- that’s 58%!

Most of the total comes from state and federal grants + merit based scholarships offered directly from the universities/colleges they plan to attend, but students also won quite a few local scholarships as well.

School Counselor Timm DiStefano said, “Our students received more aid this year because more of them applied early and completed their FAFSA before February than ever before.  Completing the FAFSA is a great start for students to get aid for college. FAFSA applications open on October 1, not January 1 for the 2016-2017 school year.  We will need everyone’s help communicating this new date to the incoming seniors and their parents. La Center had one of the highest FAFSA completion rates in WA state this year (and in the country) with about 67% of all seniors completing it.  Next year, I think our seniors can top 70%, which would be a new LCHS record.”
