Dear La Center Community:

The La Center School District has decided to proactively begin suspending events that bring large groups of students, adults, and community members together as Washington and
Oregon respond to COVID-19. This action is not related to COVID-19 cases in Clark County and at this time, there are no presumptive cases associated with the La Center School District.
School districts in our area have not been directed to close by Washington Governor Jay lnslee.

The suspension of non-essential school-based activities begins immediately. As of Friday
morning through Spring Break, the following are now canceled:
• School Concerts and Performances
• School Assemblies
• School Dances
• Field Trips
• Professional Staff Development requiring substitutes
• School-wide events such as Senior Auction, PTO/Booster Club and any other large .gatherings previously scheduled within the La Center School District.
• District facilities are closed to all external groups.

Practices (sports, theater, etc.) may continue. The list of affected activities may grow as we work with partners: Clark County Public Health, Washington State Department of Health,
OSPI and stakeholders over the coming days. We will update you as we make those decisions. You may review information already shared with you on the La Center School District
website.

Please keep children at home when they are sick. If students are showing signs of a respiratory illness (fever, cough, and/or shortness of breath), keep them at home until they have been fever-free for at least 72 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication and other symptoms are better.

To be clear, we are taking every step possible so that we can continue to provide high-quality education for all of our students and keep our schools operating as directed by officials. We will continue to provide immediate updates as information becomes available.

Sincerely,
Dave Holmes, Superintendent La Center School District
