On February 21, Mrs. Cooper’s First Grade class (in conjunction with Clark County Green Schools) conducted a food waste audit during lunch. They looked at how much food, and what types, were begin left uneaten by their class in one day. The class also looked at how much trash there was. Students sorted, weighed and counted the different types of waste. The data was later used to generate class discussions and student solutions to our food waste dilemma. It was a great learning experience for everyone involved.
